Refresh cadence — how often everything updates.

Mama is not real-time across the board. Some pipelines (job-change Orbit alerts) are real-time. Some (firmographic) are weekly. This page is the per-category latency reference.

Time: 4 min·Updated: 2026-05-25·Audience: RevOps, anyone evaluating freshness

TL;DR

The fastest: Orbit job-change alerts (real-time), funding signals (<6h). The slowest: firmographic refresh (weekly), voice mining (weekly for blogs, monthly for podcasts). Everything else is between — see the per-pipeline table. Workspace data freshness pill shows the most-recent crawl timestamp at the top of every brief.

02Signals — detail per type

Funding signals are our fastest because they're high-value-per-second-of-latency. We poll Crunchbase + SEC EDGAR + press wires continuously. Most funding signals appear in Mama within 4 hours of public announcement.

Hiring signals batch overnight — JD posts to Greenhouse / Lever / Ashby / Workday are scraped once daily. The reason: hiring rarely benefits from sub-day latency (post-to-budget-conversation gap is weeks, not hours).

Tech change signals have the highest latency (48-72h) because change-detection requires diffing — we crawl, store fingerprints, and compare against prior fingerprints. Faster diffing increases false positives.

03Firmographic detail

Weekly refresh by default. We pull from each provider on staggered days to minimize quota pressure:

  • Mondays — Crunchbase pull
  • Wednesdays — PitchBook + ZoomInfo
  • Fridays — Apollo + Mama crawl rotation

Major firmographic changes (acquisitions, IPOs, headquarters relocations) are pulled in real-time via press wires regardless of the weekly schedule.

04Technographic detail

Bi-weekly base refresh. But tech-stack additions/removals trigger a tech-change signal, which forces a fresh detection within 48h. So in practice tech data is fresher than the base cadence suggests for accounts with active signals.

05Voice detail

  • Blogs — daily RSS poll
  • Earnings calls — within 4 hours of transcript publication
  • Conference talks — weekly batch from major event channels
  • Podcasts — weekly batch via Listen Notes; high-priority pods polled daily
  • X posts — daily, with real-time for tracked execs
  • LinkedIn posts — daily, public-only (no login)

06The workspace freshness pill

The topbar of every Mama screen shows a workspace data-freshness pill ("synced 14 min ago"). This reflects the most-recent successful crawl across all major sources.

Hover the pill for a per-source breakdown. If any source is >25% behind its SLA, the pill turns amber. If any major source is broken, it turns red and an in-app alert fires.

07Common mistakes

Expecting real-time across all data
Real-time is expensive and noisy. Mama is real-time where it matters (Orbit, funding) and batched where it doesn't (firmographic, voice).
Forcing manual re-crawl on every brief
Re-crawl is for when you suspect missed data. Most accounts don't need it. Use the "Refreshed" badge on briefs as your cue.
Ignoring the workspace pill
If the pill is amber/red, something's degraded — your brief data may be older than usual. Check status before urgent outreach.
