Four sections. Same shape every time.

Free lookups aren't a stripped-down preview — they're real briefs, missing only the parts an SDR actually pastes into a cold email. The research itself is the same depth as paid.

Why now — synthesized.
A three-sentence paragraph ranking what's making this company different this week. Funding, hiring, tech, exec — the two most important moves get highlighted in the prose itself.

Honest limits

Free is free. Solo is where the workflow starts.

Free is a real product, not a teaser — but the parts that actually save SDR time (the draft opener, sequencer push, batch processing) sit behind a $0 signup. Here's the honest breakdown.

Why it's free

No catch. Just three honest reasons.

If you're suspicious of free tools — fair. We'd be too. Here's the actual model.

01
It's our best ad.
A working brief proves the value in 6 seconds. No screenshot, no demo call, no "schedule a 30-minute walkthrough." Cheaper than running paid acquisition that ends with "see a demo."
02
Most of the cost is shared.
The signal sources, the scoring infra, the LLM cache — they're already running for paid customers. Adding a free user costs us pennies per brief. The rate limit is there to keep abuse out, not to gate usage.
03
We bet you'll come back.
An SDR who pastes one domain and sees a real brief usually pastes a second. Then a tenth. Around brief 30, the rate limit starts hurting and Solo's $49 looks like the right line. That's the conversion. No tricks.
Tool questions

What everyone asks about the free lookup.

Specifically about how the free tool works — pricing details and product mechanics live on their own pages.

Identical. Same signal sources, same scoring, same synthesis layer. The free brief shows the top 3 of 7+ active signals, 1 of 3 voice quotes, and skips the draft opener — but every fact you do see is sourced and verified the same way as a Solo or Pro brief. We don't do "free tier accuracy."
Yes. Paste any domain — if Mama hasn't seen it before, she runs a fresh first-pass scan (takes 12–20 seconds instead of 6). The brief gets cached after that, so the next person who looks up the same domain gets it in 6s. About 40,000 new companies enter the index each month from free lookups alone.
Anonymously, yes — we log which domains were looked up (no IP, no fingerprint) so we know which companies people care about and what the cache hit rate looks like. We don't tie searches to your identity (you're not logged in). If you create an account, your post-signup brief history is private to your account and never shared. Full details at /legal/privacy.
Yes — but the signal coverage is thinner. Private companies typically have hiring (LinkedIn, careers pages), tech (BuiltWith / Wappalyzer), exec (LinkedIn), product launches (their site, Product Hunt), and voice (G2, Reddit) signals. Funding is hit-or-miss without primary sources. We score the brief honestly — a 60 ICP fit is a 60, even if the company is impressive on paper. No padding.
Cached briefs are refreshed on a rolling clock that varies by signal type: funding and product launches refresh real-time, hiring and exec hourly, tech daily, voice daily NLP. If a cached brief is more than 4 hours old, /lookup forces a refresh. The status pill on each brief shows exactly when it was last refreshed.
To keep abuse out — bot scraping, competitor reverse-engineering, that kind of thing. One brief per minute is plenty for genuine exploration. If you're hitting the limit, you're using the tool in a way that's actually worth signing up for Solo (which removes the limit entirely for $49 / month).
Not on the free tier — API access is Pro-only. We can't rate-limit API calls the same way we rate-limit browser sessions, and free API would just turn into a scraping back-door. If you want lookups programmatically, the Pro tier ($599 / mo) includes the full API with webhooks. For one-off scripts, you can curl /lookup/[domain] and parse the HTML — it's a public URL.

Have a question we didn't answer? Just email us — we read everything.
