Glossary entry
Technographic data
Data about the tools and technologies a company uses — the technographic equivalent of firmographic data (industry, size, geography). The defining filter for tool-vendor ICPs: a Snowflake competitor's ICP is fundamentally 'companies running Redshift or BigQuery,' which is a technographic question, not firmographic. Sources: BuiltWith (700+ categories), Wappalyzer, HG Insights, your own JS detection. Use technographics for both targeting (find the right ICPs) and triggering (notice when they migrate).
01Definition
TLDR
Data about the tools and technologies a company uses — the technographic equivalent of firmographic data (industry, size, geography). The defining filter for tool-vendor ICPs: a Snowflake competitor's ICP is fundamentally 'companies running Redshift or BigQuery,' which is a technographic question, not firmographic. 02Why it matters
Without technographic targeting, tool-vendor outbound is shooting in the dark.
03Example
Worked example
Datadog's outbound team filters for 'companies with self-managed Prometheus + 200+ engineers' — that's pure technographic targeting.
